TACLOBAN CITY—The Leyte-Samar Heritage Center (LSHC) of the University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) opened the third leg in Eastern Visayas of the Mobile Museum Boxes (MMB): Conserving the Natural History of the Visayas Region Project of the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) last February 6, 2020 at the LSHC Main Gallery, UPVTC, Tacloban City.

The University of the Philippines College of Law conducted an orientation to aspiring lawyers who wish to lake the Law Aptitude Exam (LAE) on January 24, 2020. Atty. Emerson S. Bañez, faculty member of the College, gave the participants insights and tips on how to pass the LAE. An Iloilo-based alumna Atty. Kristine Alobba also encouraged the participants by sharing bits of her experiences while fulfilling her Law degree.

TACLOBAN CITY—The Sinirangan Chamber Singers in collaboration with the Leyte Samar Heritage Center (LSHC) of the University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) celebrated love month and the National Arts month through a choral concert entitled, “Feb-Ibig na Naman, Sana All!” last February 9, 2020 at the 3^rd floor Library Building of UPVTC, Tacloban City, Leyte. The activity also served as the official anniversary presentation of the Sinirangan Chamber Singers.

UP Visayas Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, through its Director, Prof. Ruben M. Gamala, received a plaque of appreciation during the 69th Anniversary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region VI at District 21 Hotel, Iloilo City on February 5, 2020 as recognition to its volunteering service during the disaster relief operations in support to the latter's delivery of social protection services.

The Institute of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS-IA), UP Visayas conducted a national training on the "Application of Molecular Techniques on Fish Larval Biodiversity in Inland Aquatic Ecosystems for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)” last February 7-9, 2020 at the Wet Laboratories of the CFOS, UPV Miagao campus.

The University of the Philippines Visayas project team turned over the Management Information System for Comprehensive Development Plan (MIS for CDP) to the Dept. of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on January 31, 2020 at Smalville21 Hotel, Iloilo City. The MIS is part of the DILG-funded “SUC-Assisted Approach in CDP Formulation Project” which is implemented with twenty (20) partner Local Government Units (LGUs) in Region 6. The UPV Project Team is under the Office of Continuing Education and Pahinungod (OCEP).

The Center for West Visayan Studies is now a member of the Kapisanan ng mga Bahay Saliksikan sa Bansa (KABANSA), a duly recognized organization of studies centers in the Philippines. No less than Dr. Randy Madrid, CWVS current Director, who attended and received the certificate of membership from KABANSA president, Ryan Palad, during the History Lecture and Book Launching sponsored by KABANSA and ADHIKA held at La Salle Greenhills, Mandaluyong City on January 25, 2020.
