“Entrepreneurship is not just about knowledge and skills; it's also about habits and disposition.” This is how Chancellor Clement Camposano summarized the collaborative agreement between UP Visayas and Reactor School in a signing ceremony held at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) FTBI Building, Miagao, Iloilo on November 8, 2023.

Five fourth year B.S. Economics students that consist UPV’s team UPGRADE, were selected to be among the top three teams of the recent Circular Connect competition. The members of team UPGRADE are Franvill Villanueva (team leader), Jovy Fluer Elpos, Michael Benjamin Ramirez, Trisha Ann Castillo and Renz Calizo. The faculty mentor is Dr. Rodelio F. Subade of DSS-CAS.

Iloilo City is the Philippines’ first UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy as announced via a press release last October 31, 2023. The recognition is granted to applicant cities for their culinary history, tradition, culture, and identity – which integrates education, science and technology, crafts and farming industries, and environmental endeavors that contributed to the sustainable gastronomic heritage. Several members of the UP Visayas community, from faculty members, research and extension personnel, and alumni shared their expertise with Iloilo City to make the recognition possible.

The University of the Philippines Visayas, through the Gender and Development Program (GDP), together with the Ugsad Regional Gender Resource Network, organized a public forum on “Mental Health of Children and Young Adolescents” on 18 October 2023 at the UPV Little Theater, Iloilo City campus. The event sought to raise awareness on the importance of mental health among children and adolescents, and to provide tips for parents, guardians, and caregivers on ways to cultivate an environment that supports children’s mental health and well-being.
