The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Bolho, Sapa, UPV Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (BSUTODA) on Nov. 8 to update fare and traffic guidelines within the Miagao campus.
Based on the MOA, the fare for students, senior citizens, and persons with disability (PWDs) is P13, and P15 for regular passengers. For special trips, a solo passenger’s fare is P60; P70 for two passengers; and P75 for three passengers.
These rates for special trips apply from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. only. The rates are increased to P80, P90, and P100, respectively, for trips beyond the said period.
Students, senior citizens, and PWDs are entitled to the 20 percent discount for special trips.
The MOA also included the designated routes and waiting period of tricycles for the three main areas – the Dormitory/UPV Covered Court (Area 1); College Union Building (CUB), Library Museum, and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) (Area 2); and town proper (Area 3).
The updated fare and traffic guidelines will be implemented five days after posting at UPV and the Miagao Municipal Hall.
Chancellor Clement Camposano said that aside from the implementation of the updated guidelines, the safety and welfare of UPV constituents – particularly students – is a priority inside the campus.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration held a series of consultations with UPV personnel, the UPV University Student Council (USC), and BSUTODA for the amendments on the rates and traffic guidelines.
The MOA was signed by the Chancellor; Vice Chancellor for Administration John Lorenz Belanio; Prof. Agustin Huyong, Office of Student Affairs Director; Ms. Mary Lyncen Fernandez, Auxiliary Services Office Head; Mr. Raymund Gemarino, Security Service Force Chief; Melany Calcaben, Resident Housing Manager; Mr. Noel Libo-on, BSUTODA President; Anton Mathew Quilantang, UPV USC Representative; and Ms. Gerthrode Charlotte Tan-Mabilog, Information and Publications Office Director.
