The University of the Philippines Office of International Linkages (UP OIL) presented internationalization opportunities to the students, faculty, and staff of UP Visayas through its first in-person roadshow dubbed “HALIKA,” held recently at the UPV Miagao campus.
The event was marked with presentations and discussions on international student exchange opportunities and scholarships; UP’s internationalization programs and financial support for its students, faculty, and staff; and testimonials from grantees of UPV.
The attendees asked further details of the three topics after the discussions of panelists from the UP System, UP Visayas, and international institutions who attended physically and virtually.
UP OIL Deputy Director Noel Moratilla urged the attendees to leverage the various tools and opportunities presented during the event – as well as related activities conducted by UP OIL.
As of 2022, UP has partnered with 350 higher education and research institutions in 43 countries, based on the data from UP OIL.
Of the number, the popular partnership choices are Asia with 214, Europe with 55, and North America with 49, UP OIL’s data further showed. There are also partnerships with Australia and Oceania with 22, the Middle East with seven, and Africa with three.
The academic partnership with higher education institutions involves exchange of students, faculty, researcher, and other research and administrative staff; conduct of collaborative research projects; conduct of lectures and symposia; exchange of academic information and materials; and promotion of other instances of academic cooperation.
HALIKA, or the Harnessing Linkage Opportunities for Knowledge Advancement, was launched virtually last year. It is envisioned to enjoin the active participation of UP community members in internationalization activities conducted by the University. (With sources from UP OIL)
