The UP Visayas started to “Go Live” with the Budget Utilization and Liquidation System and Analytics (BULSA) on 02 December 2024. Meanwhile, the Personnel Unified System Outlook (PUSO) is scheduled to “Go Live” on 09 December 2024. This commences the utilization of these systems in some of the University’s personnel and financial processes which previously utilized the Human Resource and Finance Systems University Information System (UIS).

The exhibition of artworks from the Lopez Museum and Library (LML) titled “The Patrimony of All (Ang Panublion sang Tanan): Paintings from the Lopez Museum and Library Collection” was formally launched at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Iloilo City campus on Nov. 25, 2024. 

Piña Futures: Weaving Memories and Innovation, a book authored by Dr. Randy M. Madrid of the University of the Philippines Visayas, Division of Professional Education, was featured at the 9th ASEAN Traditional Textile Symposium in Vientiane, Laos last November 3-6, 2024.

In the 7th National Food Quiz Bowl held in UP Los Baños, Laguna last November 16, 2024, Maybelle Capulot earned the top laurel in a pool of 43 participants from different PAFT chapters as she triumphed in the competition along with a participant from UP Mindanao. One contender from UP Diliman snatched the third rank while Amiguel Pamplona sealed the last spot and will join the four-man team that will represent the Philippines in the 2025 ASEAN Food Conference in Davao City in September next year. Each winner received a ₱2500 cash incentive, plaque, certificate, and free registration for the HEFTY Review Classes in 2025.

Prof. Early Sol Gadong, a faculty member of the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI), is the next Faculty Regent of the University of the Philippines (UP). 

Faculty and students from the Division of Professional Education joined the 11th International Conference on Teacher Education (ICTED) held on November 13-15, 2024, at the Iloilo Convention Center. Organized by the University of the Philippines Diliman, the conference revolved around the theme “Preparing Teachers for Education 5.0 towards Sustainable Futures: Thrust, Challenge, and Praxis.”

Ms. Analiza S. Galang-Linaugo, University Librarian of U.P. Visayas, was featured as one of the guest speakers in DZUP’s UP Atin To live broadcast last November 7, 2024 via DZUP 1602kHz, Facebook and YouTube.  The insightful virtual discussion highlighted the essential roles of libraries as spaces for knowledge and how they respond to the needs of the tech-driven generation.

The UPV School of Technology (SOTECH) is among the Top 1 Performing Schools in the November 2024 Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination (ChELE) which was conducted last November 20 to 22, 2024.

The UPV College of Management (CM) team is the regional first runner-up and national third runner-up of the 24th Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition (ICFC), besting 93 other schools during the finals of the prestigious finance quiz bee.
