The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), through the Gender and Development Program, conducted the Orientation and Workshop on the Formulation of the 2025-2030 UPV GAD Agenda on 17 May 2024 at the J7 Plaza Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. Eighty five GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) members, unit heads, and other personnel representing the different colleges and units in the University participated in the activity.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) signed a tri-partite agreement with the Iloilo City Government and the Lopez Group Foundation on May 20 for the co-development of exhibitions showcasing important works from the Lopez Museum and Library at the UPV Museum of Arts and Cultural Heritage (UPV MACH).

The UPV University Library, through Ms. Analiza Galang-Linaugo, University Librarian, proudly received a complimentary copy of the book “It Is Time to Come Home: New and Collected Poems” from renowned poet, Dr. Marjorie Evasco-Pernia, during the second day of the much-awaited Iloilo Mega Book Fair held on April 20, 2024 at SM City Iloilo, North Point.

Chancellor Clement C. Camposano, together with Office of Student Affairs Director Agustin G. Huyong, represented UP Visayas during the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, Inc. (BCFI) and Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), represented by Executive Director Filipina C. Laurena and Executive Director Sebastian C. Quiniones, Jr., respectively.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch team visited UP Visayas last May 15, 2024. They were welcomed by Chancellor Clement C. Camposano, Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, and the deans of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Science and the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro and Prof. Pepito Fernandez, Jr., respectively.

Two groups of student researchers from UP High School in Iloilo’s Grade 12 HUMSS will be presenting their papers at the 7th International Conference on Philippine and Asian Studies at the 456 Hotel Le Grande in Baguio City from May 29 to June 1, 2024. The conference is organized by the Dalubhasaan ng mga Umuusbong na Mag-aaral ng Araling Filipino (DANUM) of the College of Liberal Arts of De La Salle University.

The first-ever Western Visayas Impact Summit was able to gather sectoral leaders in the region to listen to invited speakers talk about the socio-economic landscape of the country and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), held at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Little Theater on May 10, 2024.

To further strengthen their knowledge and skills in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, three personnel of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), who are also members of the University’s Crisis Management Committee, attended the Basic Emergency Response Simulation Training at UP Manila held from May 8-9, 2024.
