Thirteen (13) faculty members from the Division of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) served as resource speakers during the Learners’ Convergence Philippines 2024 held in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu from July 8-13.

The Center for West Visayan Studies (CWVS) was one of the recipients of the Heritage Award from the Iloilo City Government and the Iloilo City Local Culture and Arts Council (ICLCAC) in a program held last July 12, 2024 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City. 

Vyenge Erre Gayosa, a BS Fisheries student who graduated last July 9 at the Institute of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS-IA), received an award at the recently concluded Asia Pacific Aquaculture 2024 (APA24) with the theme "Aquaculture—Driving the Blue Economy," organized by the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) Asian Pacific Chapter (APC) in Surabaya, Indonesia, from July 2–5, 2024.

The Institute of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas  (UPV) presented studies on tropical anguillid eel at the Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2024 organized by the World Aquaculture Society, in Surabaya, Indonesia from July 2-5, 2024. 

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) joined the 1st International Conference on Responsible Fisheries and Aquaculture (ICORFASA) held at Limketkai Luxe Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City on July 3-5, 2024.

The Municipal Leadership and Governance Program (MLGP) Training Cycle 4 - Module 2 successfully wrapped up with seventeen (17) local government units (LGUs) in two batches. 

The 80-hour Science Immersion Program (SIP) of the Philippine Science High School-West Visayas Campus (PSHS) students was completed at the School of Technology, UP Visayas. The SIP started on June 27 and ended on July 12, 2024. 

Roberto “Ka Dodoy” Ballon, 2021 Ramon Magsaysay awardee and the 45th University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Commencement Exercises speaker, said serving the people without conditions is the true treasure.

BS Fisheries (BSF) students from Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) main campus in Estancia, Iloilo shared their learning after completing their on-the-job training at the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS) Miagao campus.
