The Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras, spearheaded by the University of the Philippines Visayas, hosted the Cultural Mapping Training Workshop conducted by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts at the UPV Little Theater, February 26, 2024.

The UP Alumni Association (UPAA) organized the UPAA President’s Golf Cup Visayas Leg and the UPAA: ONEUP Western Visayas Gathering held at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod City last February 17, 2024. It was a fundraising event for UPAA’s flagship program, “4E’s Connect,” aimed to support the alumni and students by bridging the gap between education and employment.

Given the growing interest in the field of Japan-Philippine studies, the Division of Social Sciences (DSS), in collaboration with the Center for West Visayan Studies and the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman conducted a Japanese Studies Research Writing Workshop last February 21, 2024, at the GCEB Training Rooms, UPV Iloilo City campus.

The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) held its 2023 PAARLNET Convention on 01 December 2023 at the Library Conference Hall, Miguel de Benavidez Library, University of Santo Tomas, España, Manila. Last year’s theme was “Resource Sharing in Library Networking: Current Issues and Future Prospects.” Ms. Analiza Galang-Linaugo, UPV University Librarian, was one of the invited speakers to talk about the experience and issues of the UPV Library with regards to resource sharing.

The Division of Social Sciences and the Center for West Visayan Studies held a book talk with Ms. Marie Silva Vallejo for her work Dauntless: The 1st & 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments, United States Army at the UPV Performing Arts Hall last February 21, 2024. The event was attended by students, faculty, and researchers on World War II history in Iloilo and Panay.

The University of the Philippines Visayas Health Leadership team of Dr. Philip Ian P. Padilla, under the partnership of the UPV Foundation Inc. (UPVFI) and Department of Health- Center for Health Development Western Visayas (DOH-CHD WV), trained 17 LGU teams for the Municipal Leadership Governance Program Cycle 4.
