Dr. Mary Grace C. Sedanza, a faculty member of the Institute of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), presented various initiatives of UP Visayas (UPV) on fisheries and coastal resilience during the workshop on the Fisheries Strategies for Changing Oceans and Resilient Ecosystems by 2030 (FishSCORE2030) held in Seattle, Washington, USA on March 3, 2024.

Two BS in Accountancy students from the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) College of Management were recognized during the 25th Search for Outstanding Accountancy Students of the Philippines (SOASP). Ms. Ma. Daniella M. Arenas and Ms. Catherine Izza G. Reliquias received their awards as part of the SOASP’s Top 25 National Finalists at the Stratosphere in Makati City last March 14, 2024.

Faculty members, REPS, and graduate student from UP Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (UPV-CFOS) participated in the 9th World Fisheries Congress organized by the World Council of Fisheries Society held in the Hyatt Hotel, Seattle, Washington, USA on March 3-7, 2024.

The University of the Philippines is mandated by RA 9500 to contribute to national development especially in the regions where inequities are stark. In line with SDG3 (Good Health and Well-Being), through its public health program, UP Visayas has formed a health leadership training program and a team that has been working with various Western Visayas LGUs to strengthen local health systems.

The Office of the Vice President for Development UP System, organized a workshop on 16 February 2024 in Ikeda Hall (Balay Kalinaw) at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. Vice President for Development Ferdinand Jesus A. Pecson led the workshop in discussing the template for the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), which will be used to download GAA 2024-funded projects with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for outsourced procurement and contract implementation. The document shall lay out the responsibilities of UP and DPWH in the partnership.
