2023 PAARLNet Convention invites Linaugo as one of the speakers

The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) held its 2023 PAARLNET Convention on 01 December 2023 at the Library Conference Hall, Miguel de Benavidez Library, University of Santo Tomas, España, Manila. Last year’s theme was “Resource Sharing in Library Networking: Current Issues and Future Prospects.” Ms. Analiza Galang-Linaugo, UPV University Librarian, was one of the invited speakers to talk about the experience and issues of the UPV Library with regards to resource sharing. 

The convention started with a general assembly in the morning, followed by the seminars and talks in the afternoon. It was a hybrid convention joined by participants on-site and online via Zoom. Linaugo gave her presentation via Zoom. 

During her presentation, Linaugo shared the library’s resource sharing experience: its benefits, the issues encountered, and the interventions undertaken. “UPV Library is eyeing more collaborations for extension services and resource sharing agreements with international organizations. These will serve as springboards for resource sharing innovations in the library community,” she shared.

The other speakers were Mr. Lauren P. Kipaan, Director of Benguet State University; Ms. Ana Maria B. Fresnido, Librarian/Archivist of De La Salle University Libraries; Dr. Briccio M. Merced, Jr., University Librarian of the University of the Philippines Mindanao; Ms. Maxie Doreen Leva Cabarron, Director, Institutional Planning and Quality Assurance of the University of San Carlos; and Dr. Benhur Asid, University Librarian of Western Mindanao of State University. Speakers also covered topics about networking concerns in their region and the value of resource sharing/ cost-effectiveness. 

PAARL is an association of professional librarians and other information professionals working in academic and research libraries. Since 1973, PAARL has continued to contribute to the progress of the library industry of the Philippines by upgrading the knowledge and skills of librarians and other members through local seminars, conferences, forums, and benchmarking tours abroad.
