About 40,000 trees of various species populate the sprawling 12-hundred-hectare main campus of UP Visayas in Miagao. Some of these already existed before the area became the campus, but the UPV community planted a vast number over the years. The trees have become abundant such that the Miagao LGU has declared UPV as a bird sanctuary.

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) welcomed new and returning students in the second virtual opening exercises for Academic Year 2021-2022 on September 14, 2021.

Four students of UP Visayas were accepted in the North Carolina State Developing Cultural Competence Online Program of the North Carolina State University (NCSU).

UP Visayas Chancellor Clement C. Camposano reaffirmed UPVs commitment to building the UP Extension campus by a site visit in Brgy. Nauring in Pandan, Antique on September 30, 2021.

Primitivo Galan Jr., a BS Chemical Engineering III student of the UP Visayas School of Technology, qualified to be part of the Online Summer School of Kyungpook National University. KNU is one of the UP System's partner universities in South Korea. 

The University of the Philippines Visayas through the Center for West Visayan Studies and the Iloilo City Government conducted the “Excavating the Hidden Stories of Iloilo City,” a webinar on the occasion of the 84th Charter Day of Iloilo City and the National History Month Celebration last August 31, 2021, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM via Zoom. UPV Chancellor Dr. Clement Camposano delivered the welcome remarks while Center for West Visayan Studies Director Dr. Randy Madrid provided the overview.

Xzyla Randielli Regalado, a BS Public Health III student of UP Visayas, participated in two online summer schools in Taiwan and Romania.

The University of the Philippines College of Law and the University of the Philippines Visayas are working together to make quality legal education more accessible in the Visayas region. For the first time, the UP College of Law will hold extension classes in the UP Iloilo City campus.
