Three (3) students from the University of the Philippines Visayas dominated the TumpakYapak Pak na Pak Online Filipino Quiz Bee last August 29, September 1, and 3, 2021 – bagging the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place awards in its Final Round.
Out of 100 participants nationwide and three elimination rounds, John Rey Reyes of BS in Fisheries IV emerged as the overall champion, with Princess Grace Panes and Edgar Maverick Ayag II, from BA in Political Science IV clinching the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
TumpakYapak Pak na Pak Online Filipino Quiz Bee is an event of YAPAK and London Filipino Center that centralizes on enriching the Filipino language, heritage, history, and culture. Furthermore, the said online quiz bee has three main rounds: Elimination (top 100), Semi-Finals (top 40), and Finals (Top 20) with topics that range from Filipino language and Philippine History and with a limited time to answer.
John Rey, Princess, and Maverick were able to participate from eliminations to the finals without getting eliminated from the participation and were successful in getting the championship, as well as the 2nd and 3rd places out of several professionals, students, and individuals across the Philippines.
The three students from UPV were awarded last September 6, 2021, at the event's closing ceremony through Facebook Live and were also given a chance to give a speech of encouragement.
