Commencement activities of UP Visayas are going to be held online for the first time, after the postponement of graduation ceremonies of the previous academic year due to the pandemic.

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Undergraduate Leaders’ Program (ULP) is now accepting applications. With the theme, “Sahaya: Science and Arts Harnessing the Youth’s Advocacies”, this year’s ULP will be hosted by the University of the Philippines (https://www.up.edu.ph) from 18 - 29 October 2021.

Various topics related to House Bill (HB) 9181 or the Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS) were discussed during a webinar organized by the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) in partnership with the Office of Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, July 29, 2021.

The UP Visayas Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPV TTBDO) and UPV Patent Mining Team led by project leaders Dr. Concepcion Ponce and Prof. Norwell Brian Bautista, conducted a Consultative Meeting on the Status of Scallops Research and Industry last July 16, 2021. The meeting was attended by 24 participants composed of invited research academe experts, LGU representatives, and industry experts. The pool of expertise created an interactive exchange of ideas and probable solutions about the gaps that needed to be addressed on scallop fishery and export concerns, mainly in Carles and Estancia, Iloilo.

UP Visayas shared book copies of two research publications to DepEd - Antique on July 14, 2021, entitled "Cyanide Analysis and Shelf - Life Studies of Selected Cassava Varieties at Different Maturity Stages (CyAnSS of Cassava)" and "Cassava in the Food Basket: Varieties, Processing Methods, and Cyanide Levels (English and Hiligaynon Versions)." These publications were co-authored by Vivian A. Topor, Ph.D.; Leah A. Araneta, MSc; Steve P. Janagap, EMMQAL; and Josie B. Rojo, MSc.
