Juan Algal Paste, a microalgae paste developed by the University of the Philippines Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (UPV-CFOS), Institute of Aquaculture, received the Outstanding Technology Commercialization Award from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) during the latter’s Gabi ng Parangal at Pasasalamat in celebration of its 64th anniversary held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Pasay City last June 13, 2022.
The UP Visayas Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPV TTBDO), led by Dr. Reynold D. Tan, met with Dr. Leni Yap-Dejeto, Dr. Rolly Fuentes, and the mussel research team for the possible commercialization of products from the DOST-Funded Utilization and Extraction of Mussel Glycogen project last June 3, 2022, at UP Visayas Tacloban College, Tacloban City, Leyte.

Members of the UP Visayas faculty, headed by Dr. Philip Ian Padilla, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, conducted a coaching and mentoring training for the Development Management Officers of DOH 6 on May 25-27, 2022. The activity is designed to capacitate the participants in engaging various stakeholders to implement RA 11223 or the Universal Health Care Law.
