With the theme, “Thrive at 25,” the UPV Teaching and Learning Resource Center celebrated its “Silver” or 25th Anniversary with a week-long series of activities and games.

“Si Oddie,” a film written and directed by UP Visayas’ BA Communication and Media Studies student Ma. Kydylee Torato qualified in the 2022 Cinemalaya Festival Short Film Category. 

Officials of the Philippine Space Agency were at the UP Visayas Miagao campus on June 17, 2022, to present its program for possible research collaborations with the university. 

The UP Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (UPV-CFOS) Seaweed Research Group, in collaboration with the Seaweed Base for International Science and Technology Cooperation (SBIS&TC) – China, conducted an Undergraduate Research Symposium last May 27, 2022 at the Umali Hall Conference Room, UPV, Miagao, Iloilo.

The seafood processing team of the Institute of Fish Processing Technology, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS-IFPT), UP Visayas introduced fish processing technologies to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Tibiao, Province of Antique.

The UPV-CHED TSIBOG Project “Bridging the Past, Sailing toward the Future, History to the (and by the) People” successfully delivered its outputs to project partners, the LGU of Ibajay and DepEd Aklan, on 20 June 2022.

“Dog Eaters,” a short film directed and written by Prof. Kevin Piamonte of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) College of Arts and Sciences – Division of Humanities (HumDiv), premiered at the UPV Cinematique on June 17, 2022.

Assistant Professor Dr. Cristy Sales Acabado of the Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanology, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (IMFO, CFOS), was recently granted the Excellent Research Paper Award by the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) for her research paper: “Vertical Nitrate Flux Induced by Kelvin-Helmholtz Billows Over a Seamount in the Kuroshio.”  She is one of IMFO’s experts in Biological Oceanography and Planktology.
