UP Visayas is now offering the MS Food Science starting this 1st semester, academic year 2019-2020. This new program is being hosted by the School of Technology.
In compliance with Republic Act No. 10028, also known as the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, the UPV Gender and Development Program facilitated the launching of the lactation station located at the ground floor of the GDP building at the UPV Iloilo City campus last July 22, 2019.
“The little learning you have in this SIP (science immersion program) will be useful in your future. Apply whatever experiences you had from UPV in your research and in your classroom. I wish to see you all in the science program in UPV or in any UP campuses and become contributors to science in the country,” National Academy of Science and Technology Outstanding Young Scientist awardee Prof. Nathaniel C. Añasco told the students of the country’s premier science high school at the culminating activity of their 14-day immersion at the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas (UPV), Miagao campus on July 22, 2019.
Mr. Joshua M. Regalado, faculty member of the Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies (IFPDS), College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas (UPV) together with research assistant Kristelle C. Beniga, shared the results of their studies to the local community of Miagao on July 29, 2019 at the town’s OMA Training Center. The municipality of Miagao is a coastal municipality located 40 kilometers south of Iloilo City.
UP Visayas – CAS joins World Conference on Child and Youth, grabs Best Session Paper Presenter Award
UP Visayas College of Arts and Sciences participated in the World Conference on Child And Youth (CCY) 2019 held last 05th – 06th July at Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka. This conference is under the theme “Well-being and Life Chances of Children and Youth in an Interconnected World: A Life Course Approach”.
“We will not forget the experiences we had here. We will make use of them when we go back to Japan,” said Sugiyama Daisuke speaking in behalf of his peers at the closing program of the Training on Advances in Tropical Fisheries on July 11, 2019 at the Graduate and Continuing Education Building, UP Visayas (UPV), Iloilo City campus.
As part of the efforts to better address male needs in the university and also to further encourage UPV male employees to be involved in GAD mainstreaming, the UPV Gender and Development Program organized “Paghangop, Pagbaton kag Paghulag: A Forum on Gender, Men’s Concerns and Anxieties” was held at the MILC, CAS, UPV Miagao campus on July 24, 2019. The forum was participated in by seventy (70) UPV male employees coming from different units and colleges in both Iloilo City and Miagao campuses.
Continuing in its advocacy to promote good health and proper nutrition at the grassroots, the UP Visayas Community Outreach Program (COP), through its Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement, held a health and nutrition forum on July 31, 2019 at the UPV Iloilo City campus.
More or less 50 Grade V elementary school learners understood the importance of marine coastal ecosystems and the detrimental effects of illegal fishing.
