The Taklong Island Maritime Reserve (TINMAR) located in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras is one of the marine protected areas in the Philippines. Established to safeguard marine biodiversity in the region, the area is designated to conserve the marine biodiversity and safeguard the ecosystem found within its boundaries. TINMAR is also home to the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Marine Biological Station (MBS), which plays a crucial role in maintaining the protected area and promoting the conservation of marine resources.

Luke Dranoel D. Atencio, University Researcher and Microbiologist at the Regional Research Center, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) excels at the 17th Asia-Pacific Biosafety Association (APBA) Annual Biorisk Conference. The conference, held alongside the BioRisk Association of the Philippines (BRAP) 7th Annual Convention and 5th International Forum from September 2 to 6, 2024, gathered global experts to discuss critical advancements in biosafety and biosecurity.

Prof. Dr. Jose P. Atty. Christopher Honorario, a faculty member of the College of Management and the outgoing dean, is the sole nominee for the next dean of the College. On September 4, 2024, he presented the college's accomplishments and his action plans at CM Rooms 21-25, UP Visayas, Iloilo City campus.
