Prof. Dr. Jose P. Peralta, a retired faculty member of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS), received the Nonagintennial Alumni Awards (NONAA) from the University of Sto. Tomas Chemical Engineering Alumni Association (USTCheEAA) last September 7, 2024 at UST Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Building, España, Manila.
NONAA is presented to chemical engineering alumni from UST who demonstrated the highest standard of character and religious values in their professional careers.
Peralta was awarded the Nonagintennial Alumni Award for Research and Development in recognition of his qualifications, accomplishments, and outstanding achievement as a Thomasian chemical engineer.
Peralta was a full professor of fisheries science who retired from the University in January 2021, after 42 years of committed service.
He was a former director of the Institute of Fish Processing Technology, the Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies (IFPDS), and College Secretary of the CFOS.
Peralta, a licensed chemical engineer and fisheries technologist, focuses on marine natural products, fish processing and handling, food engineering, operations research, applications, computational mathematics, and process simulation. He had developed and invented prototypes, utility designs, and processes for post-harvest fisheries. He had authored and presented studies on post harvest fisheries, plant management, food issues and policy advocacies. (With sources from Prof. Peralta)
