The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), through the Committee on General Welfare and Administrative Matters, conducted a series of staff development training to its non-teaching personnel.

UP Visayas MS Biology graduate (2023), Julia Theresa Aujero-Regalado, currently a research associate of the the UPV Philippine Genome Center Visayas, is the 2nd place winner for Best Oral Health Research Competition (Professional Category) in the 2023 Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week held on August 9, 2023 at Summit Hotel, Tacloban City, Leyte.

USWAG IKCP held its Culminating Program on August 9, 2023 at the University of the Philippines Visayas GCEB Training Rooms. Key cooperating agencies and participants who have made the project a fruitful one attended: the Iloilo City LGU through the Office of the City Agriculturist, the Department of Agriculture, school principals, representatives from the participating barangays, and WESVAARRDEC (Western Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium).

The UPHSI Team of UP High School in Iloilo composed of Abbie Jessica C. Leigh, Antoine Kaiser T. Demontano, Arwen Jayne B. Deriada, Aisha Yaelle F. Homeres, and Caiden L. Ramirez and their adviser Asst. Prof. Raphael V. Belleza secured a spot in the 2023 Young Innovators Award organized by the Department of Sciences and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology (DOST-PCIEERD).

Two members of the UP Visayas faculty were recently named Padayon Fellows of the 4th Public Service Writing Fellowship (PSWF) of the UP Padayon Public Service Office (UPPPSO). The two faculty members are Asst. Prof. Jeena A. Amoto from the Division of Professional Education and Asst. Prof. Rommel J. Gestuveo from the Division of Biological Sciences.

Representatives from the University of the Philippines Visayas, headed by Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro, had a meeting with Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. on August 8, 2023 at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol to discuss ways on how UPV can collaborate with the province on its proposed provincial research agenda.

The Province of Aklan tapped UPV as its academic partner to revise two modules of the Municipal Leadership and Development Program (MLDP) within a year and a 3rd reiteration of three modules of the Municipal Health Leadership and Governance Program (MLGP) within 18 months under the Health Leadership and Governance Program (HLGP) of Zuellig Family Foundation in partnership with the Department of Health 6.
