Sectoral consultations for the next Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) were held in the Iloilo City and Miagao campuses on Aug. 14 and 15, 2023, respectively.
Faculty, administrative staff, and Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) were consulted separately on their concerns as part of the selection process.
Atty. Abraham Rey Acosta, UP Vice President for Legal Affairs, and members of the Search Committee, led by Dr. Rosalie Arcala-Hall and Dr. Christine Mae Hernando, were in attendance for the consultations to gather concerns and insights from the sectors.
A separate consultation will be held on an appointment basis on Aug. 17, face-to-face and via Zoom, to further shed light on sectoral concerns.
Meanwhile, students and the community are scheduled to have their consultations on Aug. 22 at the Miagao campus and on Aug. 23 at the Iloilo City campus.
Earlier last week, the two nominees for the next UPV Chancellor — Chancellor Clement Camposano, who seeks a second term, and former Vice Chancellor for Administration and College of Management Dean Mary Ann Gumban – presented their vision/mission papers in front of the representatives of the various sectors in the University.
Further, the nominees will be interviewed by the Search Committee on Aug. 30 at the GCEB Training Room, Iloilo City campus. The Committee’s report will be submitted to the UP Board of Regents.
