Dr. Farisal Bagsit of the University of the Philippines Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (UPV-CFOS) is the new director of the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod/Oblation Corps effective June 1, 2022. 

After two years of not being able to conduct the UPV and Miagao Friendship Day because of the pandemic, the two institutions marked the celebration this year on May 31 with the theme: “Abyan Kahapon, Abyan Gihapon!”

The UP Visayas Extension Campus in Antique has reached 48.43% of completion as of May 14, 2022, and is expected to be finished by September 2022. The 900 square meters three-story structure has allocated rooms for classrooms, offices, training spaces, and a conference room.

The College of Management recognized the honorific scholars for the Academic Year 2020-2021 in its 2022 Pagpadungog held virtually on May 25, 2022. A total of 454 college scholars were honored on the said virtual recognition for their exemplary academic performance despite the challenges brought by the pandemic. They are composed of 142 BSA, 156 BSBA (Marketing), and 156 BSM students.

The University of the Philippines Tacloban College (UPVTC) will offer Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics (BS App Math) starting academic year 2022-2023. 

Atty. Lex Colada, an alumnus of the UP High School in Iloilo and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Community Development graduate of UP Visayas, will be representing AAMBIS-OWA party-list in the House of Representatives, having been elected on the May 9, 2022, elections.

Two years of being held captive indoors because of the pandemic, the Trail Walk organized by UP Visayas, an event of the 2022 UPV and Miagao Friendship Day, drew an excited crowd on May 31, 2022. 

UP Visayas has a relatively good number of alumni who were elected in the May 9 elections this year. 

Chancellor Clement C. Camposano received a medal and citation today, 27 May 2022, in Quezon City, as a Senior Fellow of the Philippine Public Safety College from PLTGen. Ricardo de Leon (Ret.), Ph.D., PPSC President.
