UP Visayas has a relatively good number of alumni who were elected in the May 9 elections this year.
Two graduates from UPV will again represent their provincial districts, having been re-elected. They are Rep. Lorenz R. Defensor (BA Political Science) of the 3rd District of Iloilo and Rep. Lucille Nava (BA Biology) of the Lone District of Guimaras.
Gov. Arthur R. Defensor, Jr., a UP High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) alumnus, was re-elected for his second term as Governor of Iloilo Province. Vice-Governor Christine Garin, an alumna of the UPHSI and the College of Management, was also re-elected as Vice Governor of the Iloilo Province.
Elected Board Members of their provinces were the following: Felipe H. Nava (UPHSI alumnus) of the 2nd District of Guimaras, Carmelo Nochete (College of Arts and Sciences) 1st District of Iloilo, and Cezar Yap (CAS) of the 1st District of Capiz).
Several others were also elected in their respective LGUs.
