UPV and Miagao LGU celebrate Friendship Day

UPV and Miagao LGU celebrate Friendship Day

After two years of not being able to conduct the UPV and Miagao Friendship Day because of the pandemic, the two institutions marked the celebration this year on May 31 with the theme: “Abyan Kahapon, Abyan Gihapon!”

The day-long event kicked off with a scenic Trail Walk inside the Miagao campus participated in by UPV and LGU employees. Those who did not join the trail walk had Zumba at the UPV Covered court, followed by a shared breakfast.

An ecumenical service ushered in the opening program, which was marked by the opening of the trade fair dubbed “Tyangge ni Abyan.”

Chancellor Clement Camposano, who was one of those who joined the trail walk, welcomed the friends from the LGU and marveled at how UPV, through the years, has created a forest within its campus. This was achieved through the many tree-planting activities that the university has been conducting for decades.

Miagao Mayor Macario Napulan and Vice-Mayor Carmelo Nochete, an alumnus of UPV (BA Pol Sci), expressed their appreciation of the ongoing partnership between UPV and the LGU. Presumptive Mayor for Miagao Richard Garin also graced the occasion.

The first ten to cross the finish line of the Trail Walk were given token awards along with special awards during the morning’s program. Special dance numbers were given by both agencies.

Exhibitors of the trade fair were also awarded certificates.

The shared lunch prepared by both agencies gave the employees the energy needed for the ball and Larong Pinoy games for the entire afternoon prepared by the Department of Physical Education.

This year the groupings were changed from the usual UPV versus LGU. Employees were taken from both agencies to constitute teams in the hope that friendships and camaraderie would be forged further.

An awarding of winners for the games and a brief closing program ended the day.

This year’s Friendship Day was hosted by UPV through the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Planning and Development, with VCPD Rhodella Ibabao at the helm.

UPV initiated the Friendship Day in 2011 through the OVCPD during the term of Chancellor Minda Formacion and with Dr. Alice Joan G. Ferrer as the Vice-Chancellor for Planning and Development.
