Crafting her plans and programs for the College of Arts and Sciences with this in mind, Prof. Maria Severa Fe S. Katalbas is now ready to put them into action with her appointment as the new Dean of the College. She was appointed by the UP Board of Regents during its January 26, 2018 meeting.
Prof. Encarnacion Emilia Santos-Yap is taking the lead of the flagship college of UP Visayas (UPV), the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS).
The UP Board of Regents (BOR) confirmed Yap’s appointment as the 12th Dean of CFOS on January 26, 2018. Yap’s appointment as the Dean of CFOS is from Nov.10, 2017 to Nov. 9, 2020.
Prof. Yap is an administrator, a teacher, a researcher and a public servant all rolled into one. She has most recently served for six years as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (VCAA) of UPV. She also held appointment as Assistant to the VCAA, Undergraduate Program Coordinator, College Secretary, Academic Affairs Coordinator, Student Relations Officer and Faculty-in-Charge of IFPT Pilot Plant and Special Projects of CFOS.
For the second time in a row, the UPVTC Psych Circle delegates won first place in the Outstanding Community Extension Project (OCEP) competition in the 31st Annual Psychological Association of the Philippines Junior Affiliates (PAPJA) Convention held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on January 26, 2018.
The UPVTC Psych Circle’s entry entitled “Building Community Resilience” was a project of the Disaster and Mental Health class of Prof. Pierce S. Docena, which was implemented on the first semester of academic year 2017-2018.
The University of the Philippines Visayas conducted and university-wide Strategic Plan 2018-2023 Workshop on January 25 – 26, 2018 at the UPV Iloilo City campus. The Strategic Plan followed the vision for UPV as “A Leading Regional and Global University in an Environment that Sustains 21st Century Learning, Knowledge Creation and Public Service for Society and Humanity.”
