In celebration of the 2018 National Women’s Month, Ugsad Regional Gender Resource Center, in partnership with UPV Gender and Development Program, held “Women Inspiring Women: A Discussion among GAD Focal Persons and Gender Advocates” on March 9, 2018. The said event was held at the GCEB Training Room, UP Visayas, Iloilo City campus.
Atty. Maria Leonore “Leni” Robredo, Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines served as the guest speaker for the said activity. The participants of the said event are GAD Focal Persons and Gender Advocates coming from various member-institutions of Ugsad including government agencies, academes, local government units and non-governmental organizations.
The Institute of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences conducted a Training Program on Tilapia Breeding and Culture for the Miagao Local Government Unit (LGU) on March 13 to 16, 2018. The training, which was held at the Freshwater Aquaculture Station (FAS), in Miagao, Iloilo was attended by eight participants, two (2) of whom are Bantay Dagat operators, five (5) private fishpond operators from Barangays Lanutan, Igbita, Igcabitoon, Naclob and Lacadon together with one (1) high school teacher from San Joaquin School of Fisheries.
Three faculty members of the Political Science cluster of the Division of Social Sciences read papers at the Philippine Political Science International Conference. The conference was held in Davao City on April 5-6, 2018. It featured papers that examined multi-level governance in the 21st Century. Atty. Benedicto Bacani, Executive Director of the Institute for Autonomy and Governance was plenary speaker.
