HRDO Day 2025: Strengthening Systems, Strengthening People

HRDO Day 2025: Strengthening Systems, Strengthening People

The Human Resources Development Office of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV-HRDO) celebrated its “HRDO Day” on 13 November 2025 at its office — an initiative led by Vice Chancellor for Administration Dr. Farisal U. Bagsit and Acting HRDO Chief Dr. Cherry P. Añasco with the approval of Chancellor Clement Camposano and funded by the UPV administration.
This activity served as a meaningful opportunity for the team to revisit its mandate, mission, vision, and core values, ensuring that its services are efficient, responsive, and aligned with the needs of the University.

🔍 Process Review & Section Presentations

Each section showcased its updated process flowcharts, helping everyone gain a deeper appreciation of each other’s roles. This collective understanding sought to strengthen the HRDO’s operational readiness, ensuring work continues seamlessly even when certain staff members are unavailable. It also opened space for identifying areas for improvement and co-creating solutions. The output of this presentation will be developed into HRDO Operations Manual to be communicated the HRDO’s clientele within the year.

🧩 Workshops on Issues, Concerns, & Strategies
Through collaborative discussions, the team identified recurring challenges, including backlogs and proposed action plans and strategies to address them such as job audit, office modernization and digitalization of HRDO’s processes. VCA Bagsit and Acting Chief Añasco provided insightful feedback to guide the refinement of these solutions.

🤝 Building Connections Beyond Processes
Beyond technical discussions, the HRDO Day highlighted the importance of healthy interpersonal relationships in the workplace. By understanding each other’s needs and perspectives, the HRDO strengthened its foundation of empathy — a core element in delivering nurturing and efficient service to its clients.
In line with HRDO’s vision of being a dynamic and nurturing partner of the University, this activity reminded its personnel that excellent service begins with people who understand and support one another.

🌱 Looking Ahead
In their respective closing remarks, VCA Bagsit and Acting Chief Añasco laid out the ways forward and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting HRDO’s initiatives for continuous improvement and better service delivery.
