Sparkling and “spanking new” stainless chairs greeted students at the College Union Building (CUB) and at the Common Dining Hall (CDH) when they returned to the UPV Miagao campus this February, which begins the 2nd semester of AY 2022-2023. 

Two retired faculty members donated library materials to UP Visayas University Library. 

The University of the Philippines System Fiscal Policies and Operations Committee (UP SFPOC) and the Human Resources Development Office (HRDO) chiefs of the various constituent units (CUs) of the UP System held their respective meetings at UP Visayas, Miagao campus, recently. 

UP Visayas plays a key role in the comprehensive cultural mapping in Panay and Guimaras initiatives pushed by Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda. Legarda initiated the allocation of P50 million for the Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras in the 2023 GAA, which is set to commence this year. 

Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas, was appointed to the Technical Panel for Fisheries Education of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). 

The UPHSI Batch ’76 turned over P308,500.00 for the Adopt-a-Room Project of the University of the Philippines Visayas.

The UP Visayas RAISE Project 2, in partnership with UPV Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPV TTBDO), UPV Department of Chemistry, and UPV Fisheries Technology and Business Incubator (FTBI), conducted the proposal writing workshop titled “Idea to Impact: Crafting Projects that Respond to the Needs of Society” last January 11-13, 2023 at the University of Philippines Visayas, Miagao, Iloilo. 

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS) is now ready to work on achieving its goals for 2023 and the upcoming years.

The UP High School in Iloilo Batch ’80 held a class reunion and celebrated the 60th birthday of all its members at the UPV Little Theater on February 3, 2023.
