The UP Alumni Association - Iloilo Chapter awarded 2024 jubilarians who are distinguished in their respective professions, embodying the University’s core values of honor, excellence, and service. The awarding ceremony was held during the Faculty and Alumni Homecoming at Diversion 21 Hotel Iloilo City on August 18, 2024. The award was turned over by Chancellor Clement Camposano, Office of Alumni Affairs Director Prof. Elisa Baliao, UPAA-Iloilo Chapter President Consuelo Geduspan, and UPAA Board Member and Awards Chair, Mr. Jose Ian Cababasay.

Incoming first year students arrived at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) two weeks before the official registration schedule and marked the start of their academic journey as they participated in the annual Bridge Program in English and Mathematics conducted by the UPV Teaching and Learning Resource Center in collaboration with the Division of Humanities and Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics of the College of Arts and Sciences on July 23 to August 5, 2024.

Prof. Peter Sy, Assistant Vice President for Digital Transformation (Dx) and Dr. Manuel Ramos, Director of University Computer Center, UP Diliman conducted a consultative and exploratory meeting and site visit at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Miagao and Iloilo City campuses on August 6 and 7, 2024, respectively.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Participatory Food Safety Project Team launched its first session of the Food Safety Training among 50 ambulant vendors of Iloilo City, today, August 19, 2024 at the Penthouse, Iloilo City Hall. The workshop aims to increase and improve the food safety knowledge, attitudes, and practices among food service MSMEs in Iloilo City.

In a significant move to empower the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons in the Municipality of Leon, Iloilo, the University of the Philippines (UP) Visayas Master of Management major in Public Management (MMPM) students organized a Project Development and Management Workshop on August 10, 2024. This public service was organized as a class project for the course MGT 243 (Program Development and Management) under Asst. Prof. Ma. Rhona P. Beriales of the College of Management. The workshop is anchored on the stipulations of Republic Act 10742, or the "Sangguniang Kabataan Reform (SK) Act of 2015," which highlights the importance of the SK's role as a training ground for effective local governance and administration.

The University in the Philippines Visayas served as one of the testing centers for the nationwide UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) examination this year. The four venues chosen at UP Visayas are the UPV Auditorium, UPV Little Theater, Graduate and Continuing Education Building training rooms, and College of Management Building rooms. The UPCAT examination was administered on August 10 and 11, 2024 with two sessions each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each session lasted for about four hours consisting of four subtests: Language Proficiency, Mathematics, Science, and Reading Comprehension.
