• SDG 4: Quality Education

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS) conducted an orientation on UPV research ethics guidelines and policies for its constituents via Zoom on August 31, 2021.

The University of Philippines Visayas Office of Alumni Relations (UPV OAR), in partnership with the College of Arts and Sciences -Division of Humanities (HumDiv), streamed multiple films produced and directed by UPV faculty, students, and alumni during the online alumni homecoming last August 27, 2021. 

• SDG 4: Quality Education

Three incoming fourth-year BS in Economics students from the College of Arts and Sciences in UP Visayas presented their paper in the recently concluded 3rd Asia Conference on Business and Economics Studies (ACBES). 

After almost 30 years, the UP Visayas Miagao pioneers reunited through a virtual homecoming using Zoom on August 28, 2021.

In order to be more capable of doing biosurveillance activities, the Philippine Genome Center Visayas received 92.6M funding from the Department of Budget and Management to enhance and expand its biosurveillance efforts through timely whole genome sequencing (WGS) of clinical samples.

The UP Visayas Alumni 2021 Zoomcoming featured online concerts that entertained its alumni despite the current pandemic. The UP Hamili Brotherhood and UP Hamilia Sisterhood held featured performances of its members on August 27, 2021. 

• SDG 14: Life Below Water

Successful stories in managing marine protected areas (MPA) were showcased in a virtual conference organized by the Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS-IFPDS) on August 19-20, 2021. 

• SDG 13: Climate Action

UP Tacloban’s Leyte Samar Heritage Center (LSHC) has launched Hisgut Kalibungan, a seven-part monthly online discussion series on urgent environmental issues and concerns in Eastern Visayas and beyond. The series aims to assist in articulating informed policy initiatives for environmental conservation, management, and sustainable development in Region 8 by fostering dialogue and cooperation among concerned institutions and communities.

The ongoing pandemic did not deter the organizers of the UP Iloilo Alumni Homecoming from conducting the event that kicked off with a virtual motorcade and tour on August 27, 2021.
