The University of the Philippines Visayas and the Local Government Unit of Pandan signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the implementation of the project “Tourism Initiatives Anchored on Local History and Culture” on September 30, 2021, at Pandan, Antique with UP Visayas Chancellor Clement Camposano and Pandan, Antique Mayor Plaridel Sanchez VI. Signing as witnesses were Sashah Dioso of the UPV Center for West Visayan Studies and Vice Mayor Raymund Nonato Gumboc.

“I thought of retiring from UP Visayas when the pandemic hit. Then this opening of vacancy as Chief of the Supply, Property & Services Office came up. I was encouraged to apply, and I gave it a shot because, in my heart, I believe that I can still ably serve the university. So here I am.”

About 40,000 trees of various species populate the sprawling 12-hundred-hectare main campus of UP Visayas in Miagao. Some of these already existed before the area became the campus, but the UPV community planted a vast number over the years. The trees have become abundant such that the Miagao LGU has declared UPV as a bird sanctuary.
