The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) made another milestone for UP Visayas (UPV) for making it as the first university in the country to be granted the status of Core Member of the ASEAN Fisheries Education Network (ASEAN-FEN), a university-based consortia of fisheries and aquaculture institutions in the Southeast Asia aimed to support and enhance the region's fisheries and aquaculture sector through education, research, and public outreach.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA), in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) of UP Visayas (UPV), organized a three-day Coaching and Mentoring Workshop for faculty administrators last 28-30 November, 2023 at Hotel Del Rio, Iloilo City.

Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), and BS Fisheries scholars of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource (BFAR) participated in the consultation-dialogue conducted on November 29, 2023 at the Villadolid Hall, CFOS, UP Visayas Miagao campus.

The University of the Philippines Visayas Balay-Balay Child Minding Center (BBCMC) in Iloilo City and Miagao campuses organized the “Adlaw sang Kabataan” on November 23, 2023 as part of this year’s celebration of National Children’s Month, with the theme “Healthy, nourished, sheltered: Ensuring the right to life for all!” The event was held at the Little Theater, UPV Iloilo City campus. One hundred four (104) BBCMC children, parents, guardians, caregivers and UPV constituents participated in the said event.

With the dynamic learning landscape, challenges in teaching are indeed inevitable. As such, to support teaching excellence in higher education, faculty members and representatives from the Teaching and Learning Resource Center attended the recent run of the Teaching and Learning Activities for SUCs, or “TaLAS: Building a Teaching Effectiveness Program,” on November 21-22, 2023, at the UP School of Economics.
