The Department of Tourism’s newly launched program Philippine Experience: Culture, Heritage, & Arts Caravans ended its Western Visayas leg on Dec. 01, with a vibrant tour of UP Visayas’ Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage (UPV MACH), which features seven museums.
Chancellor Clement Camposano, assisted by Office of Initiatives for Culture and the Arts Director Prof. Martin Genodepa, welcomed DOT Assistant Secretary Verna Buensuceso, Undersecretary Myra Paz Abubakar, DOT 6 Regional Director Krisma Rodriguez, and Nayong Pilipino Executive Director Gertrudes Batocabe at the Main Bldg. earlier today. Other guests included Mr. Shigeyoshi Rintaro from the the Embassy of Japan and 60 national tour operators and media influencers from all over the country combined. Ms.Junel Divinagracia, Iloilo City Tourism Officer, accompanied the guests and DOT officials.
The guests were greeted by a lively performance by the Kinaadman Chorale from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, Molo. They were then accommodated at the Performance Hall where Camposano delivered a brief welcome message. It was followed by a message from Genodepa, who also explained the flow of the museum tour.
According to DOT, the Philippine Experience program aims to “facilitate a cultural tourism circuit development focused on heritage, culture, and arts to enhance current tour and domestic circuit offerings, which include: Food and Gastronomy, Pilgrimage and Wellness, Living Cultures and Heritage, and an Arts caravan.” (With sources from DOT)
