The Miagao campus of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) will serve as an attraction this Christmas season with its display of lights for the UPV community and locals of Miagao and nearby towns. 

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) made another milestone for UP Visayas (UPV) for making it as the first university in the country to be granted the status of Core Member of the ASEAN Fisheries Education Network (ASEAN-FEN), a university-based consortia of fisheries and aquaculture institutions in the Southeast Asia aimed to support and enhance the region's fisheries and aquaculture sector through education, research, and public outreach.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA), in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) of UP Visayas (UPV), organized a three-day Coaching and Mentoring Workshop for faculty administrators last 28-30 November, 2023 at Hotel Del Rio, Iloilo City. 

The All-UP Workers Union (AUPWU) Iloilo Chapter organized a tribute to honor the exemplary service of former UP Visayas Vice Chancellor for Administration, and former UP Vice President for Administration Prof. Nestor G. Yunque last 01 December 2023 at the New Administration Building Conference Room.

Faculty members, researchers, and students of the UP Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (UPV-CFOS) joined the recently concluded 11th International Fisheries Symposium (IFS) held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The University of the Philippines Visayas Balay-Balay Child Minding Center (BBCMC) in Iloilo City and Miagao campuses organized the “Adlaw sang Kabataan” on November 23, 2023 as part of this year’s celebration of National Children’s Month, with the theme “Healthy, nourished, sheltered: Ensuring the right to life for all!” The event was held at the Little Theater, UPV Iloilo City campus. One hundred four (104) BBCMC children, parents, guardians, caregivers and UPV constituents participated in the said event. 

To kick off the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (EVAW), the University of the Philippines Visayas, through the Gender and Development Program (GDP), together with the Ugsad Regional Gender Resource Network, organized the “#VAWFREEPH: A Public Forum and Self-Defense Training” on 25 November 2023 at the UPV Auditorium, Iloilo City campus.

The Department of Tourism’s newly launched program Philippine Experience: Culture, Heritage, & Arts Caravans ended its Western Visayas leg on Dec. 01, with a vibrant tour of UP Visayas’ Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage (UPV MACH), which features seven museums.

The collection of data and samples from Ilonggo partner-volunteers for the two projects of the Filipino Genomes Research Program (FGRP) has started.
