In preparation for the annual call up of the Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) this year and its first division journal publication, the UPV Action Research Project (UPV ARP) conducted a training-workshop on the adoption of the new appraisal tools for research proposal and completed research output among teacher-researchers and teacher-innovators of the Department of Education – Schools Division of Aklan (DepEd SDO- Aklan) last 25-27 May 2023 at Hotel Metro Sky Bar and Restaurant, Kalibo, Aklan.

After a series of scriptwriting, cinematography, and film-editing workshops, the Grade 12 students from the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand of the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) showcased four documentary films and one short film through their film festival titled, “Ralantawon: A Documentary Film Festival on HUMSS-Related Researches” at the UPV Cinematheque on May 18, 2023.

The author of a book debunking the myths of the so-called Golden Age under former President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. discussed the topic to students, faculty members, and staff of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and external participants at the UPV Auditorium, Iloilo City campus, May 22.

The Division of Humanities and the Language Program conducted a public lecture series on World Englishes on May 19, 2023, at the UPV MILC, UP Visayas, Miagao, Iloilo. Titled “Transforming Humanities Education - The API Lecture Series on Language, Culture, and Discourse,” the activity featured three lectures by faculty members from the Ateneo de Manila University and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

The management team of the Philippine Coconut Authority-Region VI led by Regional Manager Neil J. Melencion, PhD and Mr. Francis B. Fegarido, Project Development Officer VI, visited the prospective site for the UPV-PCA Coconut SeedFarm in UPV Miagao Campus located at Brgy. Lumanggan, Miagao last 11 May 2023.

UPV-OCEP attended a meeting with RARE Philippines at the GCEB, UPV Iloilo Campus on May 19, 2023. This is to discuss future collaborations on trainings and projects to be implemented at the UP-Extension Campus in Pandan, Antique and Antique province. OCEP Director, Prof. Maria Theresa Albaña with Ms. Thyrza Cababasay represented the office.
