UPV-OCEP attended a meeting with RARE Philippines at the GCEB, UPV Iloilo Campus on May 19, 2023. This is to discuss future collaborations on trainings and projects to be implemented at the UP-Extension Campus in Pandan, Antique and Antique province. OCEP Director, Prof. Maria Theresa Albaña with Ms. Thyrza Cababasay represented the office.
Mr. Fel Ceasar Cadiz and Ms. May Blanco, Directors of Rare Philippines, Inc. (Rare) represented the organization in person, while Senior Director Christopher Lomboy attended the meeting through Zoom.
Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies (IFPDS) Director, Prof. Caridad Jimenez, and IFPDS faculty and researchers Dr. Liberty Espectato, Ms. Genna Serofia, Ms. Ruby Napata represented IFPDS. Also part of the meeting were UPV Ugnayan ng Pahinungod/Oblation Corps Director, Dr. Farisal Bagsit, and UPV Project Development Assistant for Antique, Ms. Anna Razel L. Ramirez.
Rare Philippines, Inc. (Rare) has an existing Memorandum of Understanding with UP Visayas and has corresponding projects with the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences. Projects have been implemented between Rare and IFPDS in the previous years.
Rare Philippines, Inc., is an international non-government organization that focuses on behavior change for communities to reduce threats to natural resources and implement coastal resources and fisheries management programs to help small-scale fishers in the Philippines.
