The undergraduate programs of the University of the Philippines Visayas College of Management (UPV CM) underwent the External Quality Assurance (EQA) Assessment Type B on Nov. 20-22, 2024.

Yel Pogoy, a first-year Chemical Engineering student at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), made a strong showing at the 28th Regional Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ), securing second place in the competition held on November 8, at the Diversion 21 Hotel in Iloilo City.

The 2024 PANAnaw Awards is an annual case competition organized by the Philippine Associations of National Advertisers Foundation (PANAF). Top marketing students from schools throughout the country compete in the conceptualization, design, and presentation of a full-blown brand communications strategy that translates the theories learned in school into an actual marketing campaign.

In celebration of the 77th year of UP presence in Iloilo, UP Visayas (UPV) — through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development and the Urban Studies Program of the UP Center for Integrative Development Studies (UP CIDS) as lead convenor—held a roundtable discussion (RTD) on sustainable governance solutions for the integrative development of urban areas at the GCEB Training Rooms, UP Visayas, Iloilo City campus, on October 23, 2024.

Fifty University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) employees signified interest and were trained on food processing focused on fish deboning last November 11, 2024 at the Fish Processing Laboratory, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS). It was organized by the Committee on Personnel Development and General Welfare, under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension and in partnership with the Institute of Fish Processing Technology (IFPT), CFOS.

Dr. Randy M. Madrid, a Social Studies professor from the Division of Professional Education, was one of the Philippine representatives to the Regional Conference 2024 of the International Society for the Studies of the Chinese Overseas held on November 7 to 9, 2024, at Universitas Kristen Maranatha in Bandung, Indonesia.

Students from various universities including UP Visayas, West Visayas State University, University of San Agustin, and John B. Lacson Maritime Foundation University were given a chance to be interns for the Kaantagan: Cultural Mapping of Panay, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental Province (CMPG) 1st Conference held in Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City on October 23-25, 2024.

A paper published by faculty members and researchers from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS) received the Dr. Elvira O. Tan Awards of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD).
