The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS) held a Student Summit via Zoom to mark the culmination of the remote practicum of BS Fisheries undergraduate students on August 20, 2021.

Professor Jose R. Taton, Jr. of the U.P. High School in Iloilo was awarded the Second Best Presentation for the PASEA Student Awards in the recently concluded 6th Symposium of the International Council for Traditional Music Study Group on Performing Arts of Southeast Asia (ICTM-PASEA) virtually hosted by the Tainan National University of the Arts (Taiwan) last July 29, 2021, until August 5, 2021.

The University of the Philippines Visayas – Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (UPV-OVCAA) has partnered with the UP National Engineering Center (NEC) to conduct the online Administrative Staff Program towards Institutional Resiliency and Excellence (ASPIRE) for UPV’s administrative staff. 

• SDG 13: Climate Action

Ban on single-use plastics and best practices in seafood processing during the Covid-19 pandemic were highlighted in a webinar organized by the Institute of Fish Processing Technology, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS-IFPT) on August 18, 2021.

Chancellor Clement Camposano was Commencement Speaker of the 41st and 42nd Commencement Exercises of the University of the Philippines Visayas. The momentous event was also the day of his investiture as the 11th Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Visayas, which premiered on August 6, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.

Commencement activities of UP Visayas are going to be held online for the first time, after the postponement of graduation ceremonies of the previous academic year due to the pandemic. 

Ms. Jane Bernadette Sansolis was hired as Administrative Aide IV, effective 29 July 2021.  She is a graduate of Bachelor of Elementary Education major in Preschool Education at University of San Agustin in 2013. She earned units in Masters in Special Education, and Masters in Public Administration (on-going) at Guimaras State College.

Four hundred seventy undergraduate and graduate students were conferred their degrees through the 1st virtual commencement ceremony held by the University of the Philippines Visayas on August 6, 2021, via YouTube and Facebook Live. 

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Undergraduate Leaders’ Program (ULP) is now accepting applications. With the theme, “Sahaya: Science and Arts Harnessing the Youth’s Advocacies”, this year’s ULP will be hosted by the University of the Philippines (https://www.up.edu.ph) from 18 - 29 October 2021.
