Prof. Fernando S. Tinagan garnered the Silver Medal Award in the recently concluded "Philippine Idol Virtual Arnis Anyo Challenge" in the 35-year-old and above age category held on October 3, 2020. 

Almost one month after the opening of the current academic year last September 10, 2020, the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences Student Council (CFOS-SC) thanked the faculty members and staff of the College for making remote learning bearable.

A services building for administrative services will soon rise at the UP Visayas Iloilo City campus. Its miniature model was unveiled on October 22, 2020. A groundbreaking ceremony followed to mark the start of its construction.

UP has finally marked its physical presence in the Province of Antique after the signing of the Deed of Donation for the lot and the ceremonial groundbreaking at the Pandan Municipal Hall and at Brgy. Nauring respectively on October 4, 2020. The project which aims to democratize admission to the national university and bring UP closer to the communities in northern Panay is the brainchild of Deputy Speaker and Antique Representative Loren Legarda who provided the allocation when she was still a senator.
