Dr. Clement C. Camposano was appointed by the UP Board of Regents as the 11th Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Visayas during its meeting on September 24, 2020.
When asked to issue a statement on his appointment, Dr. Camposano has this to say:
“As I prepare to take the helm, I would like to remind everyone that we have been given a chance to come together as a community. The search process is over and done with, and I am hoping we can all shake off the tensions, anxieties, and animosities that may have built up in the course of the search. This is an important step we all need to take if we are to face challenges head on. My warmest and sincerest regards to everyone, and especially to my good friend Chancellor Ric Babaran who congratulated me today. We will build on the achievements of the current administration, even as we chart a new way forward for our beloved UP Visayas.”
Camposano, a native of Leon, Iloilo, is no stranger to UPV. He is an alumnus of the UP High School in Iloilo and the UPV BA in Political Science-History program (1986). He earned his PhD in Philippine Studies (Anthropology) from the Tri-College Program of the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2009 and his MA in Political Science from UP Diliman (1992) as well.
The incoming chancellor will serve a term of three years effective November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2023.
