The UniversIty of the Philippines Visayas through Philippine Genome Center Visayas is collaborating with the DNA Analysis Laboratory of the Natural Sciences Research Institute, University of the Philippines Diliman for the Filipino Genomes Research Program (FGRP): Representing the Underrepresented, a study funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.

The UP Visayas Oil Spill Response Program, under the leadership of Dr. Resurreccion B. Sadaba, organized a team of scientists, researchers, and field assistants to conduct a rapid assessment of impact areas affected by the MT Princess Empress oil spill in Semirara, Caluya, and Mindoro Oriental. The project, which will run for three months starting last June 15, is a collaborative effort between UPV, Mindoro State University (MSU), and selected government units from the provinces of Oriental Mindoro and Antique.

The University of the Philippines Visayas, through BANTALA: UPV Media Excellence Awards, partnered with the Philippine Press Institute, Hanns Seidel Foundation, and Iloilo Media-Citizen Council to organize a seminar-workshop among media practitioners, bloggers, and vloggers in the region for the crafting of guidelines for online reporting.

The Museum of Philippine Maritime History in Iloilo City served as the venue for a thought-provoking event that shed light on the mental health challenges faced by seafarers in the midst of the ongoing global pandemic. Organized by Dr. Sanley S. Abila from the University of the Philippines Visayas, Division of Professional Education, this public engagement aimed to raise awareness and promote discussions on the well-being of seafarers.

The University of the Philippines Visayas represented by Dr. Philip Ian P. Padilla, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Adrienne Marrie S. Bugayong-Janagap, Division of Biological Sciences, CAS, and Prof. Jude Vincent E. Parcon, Division of Humanities, CAS signed the Pledge of Commitment during the launch of Project Kasing-kasing, Healthy Hearts Programme on June 20, 2023 at the Old Capitol Building in San Jose, Antique.

The UPV Graduate School organized a Academe-Industry-Government Dialogue at the Training Rooms, 2ndFloor, GCEB, UPV Iloilo City Campus on June 19, 2023. The purpose of the dialogue is to obtain industry and government input on the design and development of a graduate program, as well as their support to ensure the sustainability of the degree program.

Western Visayas-based media participated in a three-day seminar-workshop to adapt to the new shift in their industry, with more focus on online content, organized by the Philippine Press Institute (PPI), with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation, and in collaboration with the University of the Philippines (UPV) Bantala Media Excellence Awards and Iloilo Media-Citizen Council.
