UPV continues partnership with WHO, DOH, and Province of Antique

The University of the Philippines Visayas represented by Dr. Philip Ian P. Padilla, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Adrienne Marrie S. Bugayong-Janagap, Division of Biological Sciences, CAS, and Prof. Jude Vincent E. Parcon, Division of Humanities, CAS signed the Pledge of Commitment during the launch of Project Kasing-kasing, Healthy Hearts Programme on June 20, 2023 at the Old Capitol Building in San Jose, Antique.

Local elective officials including the Governor and Vice Governor of the Province of Antique, Provincial Board Members, Municipal Mayors as well as officials of PhilHealth, WHO, and DOH also signed the Pledge of Commitment. The signing of the Pledge of Commitment symbolizes the support of the various stakeholders to all the endeavors and activities of Project Kasing-kasing.

Project Kasing-kasing marks the beginning of the Phase III of the Healthy Hearts Programme, which is conducted by the Department of Health Center for Health Development, World Health Organization Philippines and funded by Resolve to Save Lives. The Phase III of the Healthy Hearts Programme will involve several municipalities in the Province of Antique. 

UP Visayas is a strong partner of DOH-CHD and WHO Philippines during the Healthy Hearts Programme Phase II providing support in various aspects such as program implementation review, policy making, training of Barangay Health Workers, and production of information and video materials. 

The Healthy Hearts Programme Phase II covered the municipalities in the First Congressional District of the Province of Iloilo. Several projects and activities were implemented including trainings and capacity-building activities, blood pressure monitoring, and provision of medical equipment among others.

The Healthy Hearts Programme aims to reduce morbidity associated with noncommunicable diseases including cardiovascular diseases.
