Professors from the Yokohama National University (YNU), Japan, visited the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) last March 6, 2025. Dr. Takayuki Suzuki, Professor, and Dr. Hiroto Higa, Associate Professor, both from the Estuaries & Coastal Engineering Laboratory in the Civil Engineering Department at YNU, took part in a series of activities at UPV.

The University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) researchers emerged victorious, winning First Place (Best Paper) in the International Conference on Pure and Applied Sciences- ICPAS category at the 2nd West Visayas State University (WVSU) World Research and Innovation Festival (WRIF), held online/through virtual presentation in February 21, 2025.

In line with their continuous commitment to fact-checking, members of the UP Visayas iWrite attended Agence France-Presse’s (AFP) virtual workshop, supported by Tsek.ph, last March 1 and 8 of this year.

Center for West Visayan Studies (CWVS) Director Asst. Prof. Frances Anthea Redison concluded her two-month research engagement in Tokyo, Japan. She was accepted at The University of Tokyo as Visiting Research Scholar from January to February 2025 under the tutelage of World War II scholar Dr. Taihei Okada of the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Asian Studies.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration (OVCA) organized a workshop on February 27, 2025 with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development (OVCPD) and the Health Services Unit (HSU) on improving the Health Services Unit at the Miagao Campus. The workshop was held at the Training Rooms, Graduate and Continuing Education Building (GCEB), UP Visayas, Iloilo City campus.

UP High School in Iloilo won two best presenter awards in the Entrepreneurship and General Management Track 1 and 2 during the 6th Northern Philippines Business Research Conference 2025, an international research conference held at the University of Asia and the Pacific, Pasig City, Philippines from February 26-27, 2025.
