The Department of Science and Technology - Vaccine and Virology Institute of the Philippines (DOST-VIP) recently engaged in a practical training program focused on Whole Genome Sequencing, with an emphasis on Library Preparation and Bioinformatics Analysis at the Philippine Genome Center Visayas from January 15 to 19, 2024. The training aimed to enhance the participants' expertise in various aspects of Whole Genome Sequencing, including library preparation, data analysis, and bioinformatics.

Dr. Johnrev Guilaran of the Division of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) is part of a team of 260 researchers across the globe whose research on climate change intervention was published on Science Advances.

Stemming from an earnest desire to improve its services to UP Visayas (UPV) and its constituents, the Campus Maintenance and Development Office (CDMO) conducted an operations review on January 29-30, 2024 at the NAB conference room, Miagao campus. 

Prof. Alice Joan G. Ferrer, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, University of the Philippines Visayas, was invited to join the Ocean and Fisheries Working Group (OFWG) 01 2022 Workshop organized by the Department of Fisheries of Thailand last 31 January – 02 February 2024 at Jasmine City Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

About 150 personnel and students from the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) joined the foot parade during the opening salvo and float parade of Miagao town’s Salakayan Festival 2024 on Feb. 5.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) project team members led by its program manager, Dr. Harold Monteclaro, paid courtesy visits to three municipalities in Antique from January 24 to 25, 2024.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) project team members for the research project titled “From Policy to Practice: Implementation Study of National Programs on Nutrition, Food Security, Education Literacy, and Employment in the Province of Antique, Philippines" attended an orientation meeting with the officers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region VI at the OICA Conference Room, UPV, Iloilo City Campus on February 8, 2024.

Faculty members of the College of Management facilitated a training on “Enhancing Team Unity and Work Attitudes” for the employees of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Western Visayas. 

Dr. Harold Monteclaro was recently appointed by the UP Board of Regents as the Dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences in its 1386th meeting held at UP Baguio on January 25, 2024.
