Barangay health workers and health professionals in Negros Occidental attended the Training of Trainers on the use of Noncommunicable (NCD) diseases flipchart. Forty-five (45) BHWs and health professionals from the various cities and municipalities participated in what can be considered as the first opportunity for them to immerse and formally learn how to use the NCD flipchart effectively in the roll-out the NCD training in the other parts of the Negros Occidental province.

On November 23, 2022, UPV Literati, in collaboration with the UPV Language program, conducted the Artist Talk and Mini-Workshop 2022 at the GCEB AVR of the University of the Philippines Visayas Iloilo City campus. The two-hour event was facilitated by one of the foremost creative nonfictionists in the Philippines, Professor Ferdinand Pisigan Jarin, who gave a lecture to over 50 participants on writing creative nonfiction, particularly, Malikhaing Sanaysay, a form similar to creative nonfiction but with its own nuances and localized aesthetics.

The University of the Philippines Visayas Balay-Balay Child Minding Center (BBCMC) in Iloilo City and Miagao campuses conducted the Adlaw sang Kabataan last November 17, 2022 as part of this year’s celebration of National Children’s Month. With the theme, “Kinamatarung Tutukan, Para sa Masanag nga Bwas-Damlag,” BBCMC organized various activities for the children, parents, guardians, and caregivers during the one-day festivity.

The Department of Education (DepEd) – Antique, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), Antique Provincial Government, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), in coordination with the then-Office of Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, launched the book “Dunâ, Kinaíya Kag Paranúbliùn,” A Cultural Inventory of the Province of Antique, at the Old Capitol Building in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique on Nov. 25.

The School of Technology, with its Bachelor of Science in Food Technology Program, receives its Certificate of Compliance from Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) for the full compliance of the program to the requirements of the Republic Act No. 11052, an act regulating the practice of Food Technology in the Philippines.

"Tinagong Dagat: Kwento ng mga Batang Mangingisda" by Riza Babaran, BS Fisheries graduate of UP Visayas was named a finalist in the 2022 Madrigal-Gonzales Best First Book Awards in Filipino. The competition, organized by the Likhaan: University of the Philippine Institute of Creative Writing, will have its awarding ceremony on November 25, 2022. The book was published by the University of the Philippines Press. It is a compilation of ten tales about young fishers.
