Mary Manuelita Tan and Benreo Rex Rembulat, summa cum laude graduates of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) class of 2023, gave back-to-back messages centered on inclusivity during the 44th Commencement Exercises held on July 20, 2023 at the Miagao campus. 

For weeks, rain has been coming down hard all over the city and province of Iloilo, but on July 20, 2023, UP Visayas’ 44th Commencement Exercises was graced with sunny weather. As the graduates lined up for the processional, along with the faculty members and officials of UP Visayas and the University of the Philippines system, you can feel the palpable energy and excitement in the air. 

The UP High School in Iloilo conducted Pasidungog: A Moving Up and Recognition Program for Junior High School students and achievers at the UP Visayas Auditorium on July 13, 2023.

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS) is again hosting scholars from the Philippine Science High School–Western Visayas Campus (PSHS-WVC), popularly known as Pisay, in a Science Immersion Program (SIP) to learn and gain experience in aquaculture and post-harvest fisheries. 

Dr. Ruel Malata implored the graduating students of UP Visayas to never be afraid and have fortitude as they encounter challenges. This was his message during the Baccalaureate Service at the UPV Auditorium on July 19, 2023.

One-hundred senior high school (SHS) students of the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) graduated last July 14, 2023, during its 42nd Graduation Exercises held at the UP Visayas Auditorium, Iloilo City campus. 

Dr. Angel Encarnacion, Regional Director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-2 under the Department of Agriculture, and Stephen Carlo Areño, Bachelor of Science (BS) in Applied Mathematics summa cum laude, gave their respective messages to student-awardees during the Papuri 2023.

The College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV-CAS) honored its senior and graduating students during the CAS Recognition Program 2023 held at the AVR, Pidlaoan Hall, Miagao campus, on July 18. 

Four students of the National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) are spending their summer internship at the Institute of Fish Processing Technology, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS-IFPT) this year.
