The ConChords performed for honor graduates and special achievement awardees of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) at the Parangal 2023 held at the UPV Auditorium, Iloilo City campus last July 19.
The group performed OPM, classical, and pop/rock songs during the commencement concert, which was held after the Papuri, UPV’s recognition program for its students.
Some of the songs they performed were Gary Valenciano’s “Di Bale Na Lang,” Ryan Cayabyab’s “Araw Gabi,” Bread/Ben and Ben’s “Make It With You,” BTS’ “Dynamite,” and Dua Lipa’s “New Rules.”
ConChords was founded by UP Diliman students under the College of Music in 2016 and has won several national and international awards since in solo and group categories.
The group is composed of five members: Coleen Herschel de Guzman (soprano); Nica Dorothea Tupas (alto); Jowin Mark Panizal (tenor); Calvin Capacete (bass); Val Dominic Gagatiga (vocal percussionist).
