The faculty and students of the Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (DURP) program at the College of Management, in partnership with the UPV Office of Continuing Education and Pahinungod (OCEP) and the Graduate School Student Council (GSSC), collaborated with the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP)–Western Visayas Chapter to organize a forum series titled "Safe, Welcoming, and Inclusive: Rethinking Our Spaces.”

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), in partnership with the Institute of Contemporary Economics (ICE), hosted a forum titled Quantum Technology: Unlocking the Future of Computing, Communication, and Sensing to Address Intractable Problems on March 27 at the UPV Little Theater, Iloilo City Campus.

Two research groups comprised of eight Grade-12 ABM students from UP High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) participated in the 16th International Conference on Environmental and Rural Development (ICERD) at Tokyo University of Agriculture, Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan, held from March 13-16, 2025. The students presented their research through a poster presentation, with one group receiving the prestigious Award of Excellent Poster Presentation—one of the conference’s prestigious recognitions.

The Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS-IFPDS) launched its Fisheries Policy Laboratory on 25 March 2025 at the Umali Hall (Faculty Center), University of the Philippines Visayas in Miagao, Iloilo. CFOS Dean Prof. Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro led the ceremonial ribbon cutting, together with Vice Chancellor for Administration Asst. Prof. Dr. Farisal U. Bagsit, IFPDS Director Assoc. Prof. Caridad N. Jimenez, and CFOS Coordinator for Instruction Asst. Prof. Joshua M. Regalado. Thomas Harriot Distinguished Professor for Anthropology of East Carolina University, Prof. Dr. David Griffith, along with the faculty, staff and students from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) participated in this milestone event for IFPDS.

Prof. Alice Joan G. Ferrer, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), was one of the invited speakers of the 14th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum (14AFAF) held at New Delhi, India from 12-15 February 2025, with the theme, ‘Greening the Blue Growth in Asia-Pacific.’ The forum was co-organized by the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS), The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the Department of Fisheries (DoF), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, and The Asian Fisheries Society Indian Branch (AFSIB).

Two BS in Accountancy students from the UPV College of Management were recognized during the 26th Search for Outstanding Accountancy Students of the Philippines (SOASP). Ms. Keren Kathe Jocson Jacomilla and Mr. Christian Luwin Noveros Nadanga received their awards as part of the SOASP’s Top 25 National Finalists at the Makati Diamond Residences in Makati City last March 21, 2025.
