The personnel of the Digital Innovation Center (DIC) convened for a two-day strategic planning workshop and formulation of operations manual from August 27 to 28, 2024 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.  The activity aims to align with UP and UPV’s mandates as the information technology organization of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV). 

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) participated in the 2024 Global Reach symposium held from August 7-8, 2024.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), through its Capacity Building, Policy Review, and Innovative Legislation Toward Coastline Protection and Development for a Sustainable Future or the Coastal Protection and Development (CPD) Program, held a national stakeholders’ dialogue to present and discuss the draft legislation on the Philippine Coastal Protection Act.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanology (IMFO) recently hosted the 2nd NARFleet Co-Management Workshop, held at the FC Conference Room, Umali Hall, from August 29-30, 2024. The event brought together collaborators and partners from the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute (UP MSI), Bicol University, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), and UPV.

A symposium titled “Weaponization of Justice: Skirting the Line Between Human Rights and Compelling State Interest," featuring former Senator Atty. Leila de Lima as the guest speaker, was organized by the UPV SCINTILLA JVRIS Fraternity and the UP STELLA JURIS Sorority on August 28, 2024 at the Auditorium, UP Visayas, Iloilo City.

The 19 Master of Management-Public Management (MMPM) students of the College of Management and Graduate School enhanced the capability of the 29 Punong Barangays and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairpersons of the Municipality of Leganes, Iloilo in effective written communication, project management, and utilization of the Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FA).  The training-workshop was held on August 16, 2024 at the Session Hall of the Sangguniang Bayan of Leganes.  Dr. Vicente “Jun-Jun” Jaen II, the Municipal Mayor, gave a message after Mr. Jason Vincent Caldeo, his Executive Assistant, welcomed the participants.   

The 5th Colleges and Universities Public Service Conference (CUPSCON5) was held in Palawan State University, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan from August 28 to 30, 2024. The UPV Action Research Project (UPV ARP) team presented two papers and received an award at the conference. 

Today, the UP Visayas Sibika Hub 2.0 (Western Visayas) is taking place at Hotel del Rio, with students and teachers from Jaro National High School, Mandurriao National High School, La Paz National High School, Iloilo City National High School, Ramon Avanceña National High School, Fort San Pedro National High School, and Jalandoni National High School in attendance.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) School of Technology (SOTECH) ranked fourth on the list of top performing schools in the 2024 Food Technologists Licensure Examination (FTLE), which was conducted last August 22 and 23, 2024.
