The personnel of the Digital Innovation Center (DIC) convened for a two-day strategic planning workshop and formulation of operations manual from August 27 to 28, 2024 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City. The activity aims to align with UP and UPV’s mandates as the information technology organization of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV).
Asst. Prof. Rhea J. Subong-Espina, DIC Director, discussed the highlights of the accomplishments and current management principles of the office. Meanwhile, Dr. Cherry P. Añasco presented the core values, vision, mission, and goals of UPV. Asst. Prof. John Lorenz Belanio and Asst. Prof. Mary Ann Sedero served as the resource persons for the workshop and provided lectures on strategic planning and operations manual and facilitated in the crafting of DIC’s core values, vision, mission, goals and objectives.
Dr. Farisal U. Bagsit, Vice Chancellor for Administration, and Dr. Francis Dimzon, the Adviser for Digital Transformation (Dx) of UPV, were also in attendance in the said activity. They provided insights on the results of the workshop for efficient and effective implementation of its goals and objectives based on the current and possible future scenarios that may impact the operations of the office.
The creation of the DIC was approved by the Board of Regents in its 1371st meeting on June 9, 2022 to address the existing and emerging technological and digital innovation requirements of the University and was effectively established at UPV on May 16, 2023 through Memorandum No. CCC 2023-05-021.
