Prof. Fernando S. Tinagan, a UPV-PE Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences, wins Three (3) Gold Medals and One (1) Bronze Medal, respectively, in the different Standard "Anyo" Events and Age Categories. The awards are the following: 1. Gold medal in "Solo Baston Standard "Anyo" in (31 years old and above – male category) 2. Gold medal in Duo Solo Baston Standard "Anyo" (18 and above mixed). 3. Gold Medal in Synchronized Solo Baston Standard "Anyo" (18 and above mixed), 4. Bronze medal in Duo Solo Baston Standard "Anyo" (18 and above mixed).

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) signed a memorandum of agreement with the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) on January 30, 2021 to lead the project on democracy and disinformation this year, which includes a series of activities such as national and regional conferences, fact-checking workshops, special initiatives, and academic research.

“The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognizes cultural mapping as a vital and crucial tool in providing the society an overall framework in the preservation of our heritage, may it be tangible or intangible, built, man-made or natural.”

UP High School Class ’65 alumni represented by Retired Associate Justice Francis H. Jardeleza, and Retired UPV Prof. Melanie J. Padilla, entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the UPV Foundation, Inc. through its concurrent president, Chancellor Clement C. Camposano for the preservation of the Old Faculty Room Building (now housing the Health Services Unit (HSU), High School (HS) Computer Room, and HS Music Room) and the former Woman’s Club Building – now the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at the Iloilo City campus of UP Visayas. A Signing of this MOA was held at the UPV CM Conference Room, Iloilo City, on February 9, 2021.

“We need to have a monitoring and evaluation system (M & E) when implementing various projects for us to become a more responsible and responsive university,” says UP Visayas Chancellor Clement Camposano to the participants of the M & E training-workshop on January 19-20, 2021, at the UPV GCEB training rooms.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) is hosting a three-day national online conference on February 22, 24, and 26, which gathers prominent media personalities, educators, civil society representatives, and advocates to discuss disinformation and democracy in various contexts – media, health, law and governance, and education.

The UPV Supra-Level Strategic Planning Conference and the College – Based Planning Session for 2021-2023 were conducted at the College of Management, UP Visayas Iloilo City campus on February 5, 2021. Chancellor Camposano encouraged the participants who attended the face-to-face sessions and Zoom to bring their knowledge and expertise to chart UPVs path over the next three years.

UP Fight—mainly composed of members of iAmUPHi and UPAA-Iloilo—turned over their donations to West Visayas State University – Medical Center last January 30, 2021, in a ceremony held at the UPV main building. The donations were composed of equipment intended for WVSU-MC front liners combating the ongoing pandemic, such as hazmat suits, face masks and shields, rubbing alcohol, and protective gowns. Among those present were Dr. Marovi Celis and Judge Cyril Regalado of iAmUPHi, Atty. Dennis Guevara of UPAA, Chancellor Clement Camposano, VCAA Philip Ian Padilla, UPHSI Principal Alfredo Diaz, and Alumni Relations Director Rey Carlo Gonzales. The donations were received by Dr. Nemesio Granada (dean of WVSU School of Medicine) and Dr. Joselito Villaruz (President of WVSU), along with other WVSU officials, post-graduate interns, and clinical clerks.
