To support the continuing of the learning process and the mentoring that they have received as UP Visayas students, the pioneer batch of the BS Public Health program donated P57,000.00 to the Division of Biological Sciences for the repair of the program’s main laboratory.

The BSPH program is handled by the Division of Biological Sciences (DBS), College of Arts and Sciences. Ms. Razeljoy Quirante, representative of the BSPH pioneer batch, turned over the cash to DBS Chair, Dr. Wilfredo Campos, CAS Dean, Dr. Alice Ferrer, Associate Dean, Prof. Nilo Araneta, and former CAS Dean Prof. Ma. Severa Fe Katalbas on February 22, 2021.

The funds will be spent for the materials for the repair of the PH laboratory, estimated to be around P32,000.00, while the rest of the money will be spent on installing the white board, and buying a smart TV for the laboratory. According to Dr. Campos, the alumni said this gesture is their way of paying forward, the kind of mentoring and quality education that they have received from the university.

The BS Public Health program is a four-year program that started in 1998. Among those who developed the program were Prof. Ma. Severa Fe Katalbas and Dr. Alice Joan Ferrer.
